We always seem to have bananas going bad in my house. So I usually end up throwing a few in the freezer to make banana bread later. This was a staple in our house growing up. My mom would make mini loaves for ALL of our teachers growing up.
Then I grew up and realized that most people don’t but chocolate chips in their banana bread. What?! Chocolate makes everything better. You’re welcome.
Mom’s Chocolate Chip Banana Bread
3 mashed bananas
1/2 cup softened butter
1 cup brown sugar
2 beaten eggs
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup whole wheat flour
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup chopped nuts
1 cup chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 350
Cream butter, bananas and sugar.
Add next 4 ingredients and mix well.
Add remaining ingredients until fully mixed.
Pour in greased bread pan and cook for 1 hour.
Let cool and enjoy
top with cream cheese frosting.
